After a rigorous selection process and public interview of candidates by the Judicial Service Commission to get the new Chief Justice in Kenya, Court of appeal Judge David Maraga has been announced a Mutunga's successor.
The appointment of Maraga who is a Seventh-Day Adventist has sparked a jubilant mood among SDA faithful with some taking to social media to thank God for an answered prayer.
Maraga is one of the elders of the Seventh-Day Adventist church.
Early in September Maraga excited and vindicated most Adventist when he stated in the interview panel that being a staunch Adventist he can not work on Sabbath, Most Adventist believes that on the sabbath day (Saturday) it is a day of rest where a person should not work but worship God.
"It would be very difficult for me to sit on a Saturday to hear a case," Maraga said in reply to a commission member.
Justice Maraga's name will be handed to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday.
